A soothing playlist that calms your inner road rage

Lets be honest: road rage can get the best of us.

I find this to be especially true when navigating Florida’s tourist-filled highways. As a college student who often commutes from Gainesville to the Space Coast, my numerous solo road trips would be dreadful without Spotify premium. According to a HealthDay article, stress on the road can be eased by listening to music or audio books.

Driving a long distance can be peaceful with the right background noise, which is why I created a playlist full of tranquil tunes with genres ranging from alternative to “indie” to singer/songwriter.

When thinking of a title for said playlist, I wanted to stay away from generic names such as “road trip jams” or “life is a highway.” I finally thought of a creative pun that only I would understand unless explained. I decided on “beep boop bop.” Okay. Hear me out.

The phrase itself comes from the noise a robot makes. I correlated the “beep” with the sound a car makes. I also like to call my favorite songs “bops.” The middle word tied everything together. I don’t think there’s anything a person could directly connect to “boop.” Hopefully this explanation makes sense, and the method to my madness is made apparent.

Some of the songs from my almost three-and-a-half-hour-long playlist, which I listed below, are ones I recently discovered while stumbling upon a wedding videographer’s Instagram. Thanks to Jake Weisler’s flawless taste in music, my inner hopeless romantic can’t stop playing these “bops” on repeat.

This band only has about 78,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Finding hidden treasures like this one gives me an outlet from overplayed, mainstream artists.
I couldn’t exclude the music of my future husband from this playlist. I guess I’m slightly biased. And delusional.
To the music fans who enjoy wholesome, “indie” love songs, you’ll want to add this one to your digital library.
A wise friend of mine once said, “Coldplay is timeless and no one can tell me otherwise.”
There is a reason this is one of Hozier’s most popular songs. Side note: I saw a video of him serenading New Yorkers in a Manhattan subway while I was on vacation in the city. I was slightly offended our paths didn’t cross.
This groovy tune debuted in 2015 but recently sparked a series of memes on Twitter. A video of Kermit the Frog dancing to it is one my favorites.
